This was one of the most gorgeous locations for a wedding that I have ever shot at. The Estate on the Halifax in Port Orange could not be more amazing. I started my day with the one hour drive there with a few prayers along the way to give me the ability to shoot amazing photos that Katie and Coleman would enjoy and most importantly that they would have an amazing marriage that would stand the test of time with God at the center.
I arrived about an hour early to take a look at the venue and check out some spots. I was blown away by The Estate on the Halifax. So many different options to choose from. I then made my way to the house where the girls were staying. I walked into an amazing house that all the bridesmaids were getting ready in and Katie shouted to me, “Hello!" and with a ton of excitement, “I’m getting married today!”. There did not seem to be any nerves from Katie, just excitement. I took a few detailed shots as the girls' were getting flawless makeup done by Make-up by Diana.
I did not focus on other detail shots as much as I normally do because another photographer, Erika Grace was working with Simply Elegant by Design to capture all the amazing details of this gorgeous wedding for a magazine and then sharing them with the bride and groom. So my focus was all on them. My beautiful and lovely second shooter (my wife) arrived as Katie was getting her hair done by Meredith Phillips. I then went to where the guys were getting ready in the train car that is on the property. The guys were laid back and had just finished golfing. Thankfully no one had a sunburn that I would have to edit out later.
I then worked my way back to the house where we were preparing for the father-daughter/brother first look. It was a sweet moment for sure. After a few tears by all present we were ready for the bride and groom's first look.
We went outside under some shade to keep cool as Katie worked her way to Coleman. He turned around and had a few tears in his eyes as he saw his bride. He stated that it was sweat but I knew better. We took a few shots of them together and were off to the Chapel on the property to prepare for the ceremony.
I had my wife go up to the small balcony and I was on the floor to shoot the wedding ceremony. The officiant was Corky Calhoun, by far my favorite of all time. I might be biased because he is my pastor but I do think he is the best. The ceremony was beautiful and heartfelt.
We then got set up for family pics that were taken inside the Chapel. After that we went around the property and took a few of just the bride and groom.
At the reception, DJ Shane was once again the best around. A bit of dancing and fun was had by all. The couple danced the night away. The highlight of the dance floor was the foam glow sticks that were brought out during the dancing to get everyone involved.
Katie and Coleman had a sparkler send off to end a perfect wedding day for these two.
Special thanks to all the vendors that were involved.
